The Wild West Bali National Park

For those who believe Bali is only about beach clubs and rice terraces, the far western tip of the island offers a stunning revelation. This 3-day “Wild West” itinerary is designed for off-the-beaten-path explorers and wildlife enthusiasts who want to trade the crowds for untouched forests and vibrant coral reefs.

Because the journey to West Bali is one of the island’s longest drives, our Bali bus rental services are the best way to travel. Your group can relax in reclining seats with plenty of legroom, enjoying the changing scenery while our professional drivers handle the long haul with ease.

Day 1: Into the Wilderness

We set off early for a spectacular scenic drive that takes you through the heart of Bali’s agricultural belt.

  • The Scenic Route: Enjoy the view as the landscape shifts from the busy south to the rolling hills of Tabanan and the dramatic coastline of Negara.
  • Eco-Resort Immersion: Your home for the next two nights is an eco-resort nestled directly within the West Bali National Park. As soon as you check in, the sounds of the jungle take over. Keep an eye out for barking deer or monkeys right outside your window.

Day 2: Marine Magic at Menjangan Island

Day two takes you offshore to a place many consider the “crown jewel” of Balinese diving and snorkeling.

  • Menjangan Island: After a short boat ride, you’ll reach the protected waters surrounding Menjangan. Known for its incredible wall diving and crystal-clear visibility, the reef here is home to vibrant sea fans and a dizzying array of tropical fish.
  • Wildlife at Sea: The island is named after the rare Javan Rusa deer (Menjangan), which can often be seen swimming in the shallows or resting on the white sandy beaches.

Day 3: Rare Encounters & Ancient Temples

Before we begin the journey back, we dive deep into the park’s unique biodiversity.

  • Bali Starling Trek: We join a park ranger for a guided forest trek. The goal? A sighting of the Bali Starling. This snow-white bird with striking blue eye patches is the island’s only endemic bird species and was once nearly extinct. Seeing them in the wild is a rare and moving experience for any nature lover.
  • Pulaki Temple: On our way out of the park, we visit the Pulaki “Monkey” Temple. Perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, this sacred site is home to a large population of macaques and offers a dramatic spiritual farewell to the west.
